The Caps and Bears announced today that they have extended their affiliation through the 2013-2014 season. Bears GM Doug Yingst was quoted in the Bears press release as saying,

“The combined efforts of the Capitals and the BEARS have produced playoff teams each year and three championships here in HERSHEY since our partnership began,” Yingst said.  “Washington also eliminated the defending Stanley Cup champions using several players who developed in HERSHEY.  It is a win-win for both parties and we are thrilled to team up again.”

Capitals GM George McPhee shared Yingst’s enthusiasm about the agreement by stating the following in the Caps press release.

“We are excited to extend our affiliation with the Hershey Bears,” said McPhee. “The Bears are one of the most storied franchises in the AHL and we are looking forward to the continued development of our top prospects in Hershey.”

Additionally, the Bears have announced through their facebook page that Head Coach Mark French and Assistant Coach Troy Mann will be back next season.
