A Tough Weekend Ends in One Final Loss for Hershey
Manchester celebrates one of their goals tonight (Photos by Kyle Mace)
Let’s take a trip back 2,837 days to April 17th, 2005. Eric Perrin is Hershey’s leading scorer after playing the end of last season with the Tampa Bay Lighting their Stanley Cup run. Peter Budaj has played almost 60 games for the Chocolate and White and Paul Fixter is the Head Coach for the Bears. But that April night in Bridgeport, CT, the Bears lost their sixth game in a row and was swept in their 3-in-3 series. That was the last time Hershey has lost three weekend games in a row. We are now at one day since Hershey has been swept in a 3-in-3 after the Bears fall to the Monarchs 4-2.
The game started off like it ended last night with Manchester getting on the board first with a goal from Dwight King, (DJ’s brother.)
Hershey would match that Manchester goal with Julien Brouillette scoring his eighth goal this season for Hershey and tying the game a one.
With :49 seconds left in the first, the Monarchs took back the lead with a shorthanded goal from Stefan Legein.
Legein would then score again, this time on the power play, putting Manchester 3-1.
This game would not be all sad news for the Bears as Keith Aucoin would extend his point streak to 16 games with a late 2nd period goal.
But that would be the final good news for Hershey as they would give up an empty netter with nine seconds left, losing 4-2.
Hershey is on the road in Norfolk for two games this coming weekend before All-Star break.

The game started off with a moment of silence for legendary college football coach, Joe Paterno, who died at the age of 85 this morning, followed by a “WE ARE. PENN STATE!” chant from the fans at the game. I would like to extend my thoughts and prayers towards the Paterno family. You will be missed, Joe.
