Highlights of the 2012 AHL All-Star Skills Competition
Less than 24 hours after their game against the Norfolk Admirals, three Bears headed to Atlantic City to take part in the 2012 AHL All-Star Skills Competition. Though none of the Bears won an event, the guys certainly gave it a good try.
Chris Bourque impressed during the Caesars Accuracy Shooting event, only needing six shots to smash all four targets. Of course, it probably came easy to him with his linemate, Keith Aucoin, passing to him. Boyd Kane didn’t do quite as well but still hit two targets on eight shots. CSN Washington has videos of the two shooters.
As for the rest of the games, Brian Connelly of the Abbottsford Heat earned the Fastest Skater trophy with a lap time of 13.851 seconds. Kevin Connauton of the Chicago Wolves won the Hardest Shot, clocking in at 99.4 miles per hour.
Kyle Palmieri, on a line with Alexander Urbom and Aucoin, scored a goal against Matt Hackett during the Visit Atlantic City Pass and Score. Aucoin and Kane were also shooters for the RBC Rapid Fire event, which tested the goalie’s abilities to stop quick shots from point blank range. In the end, the Western Conference topped the Eastern Conference by a score of 18 to 10. But the East will have a chance to get their win during the All-Star Game tomorrow night at 7:00.
