Bears lose Battle of Bears, 6-0

Woah woah woah. I know what you’re thinking, “Oh great, another loss. I don’t want to read this,” but if you wait until the end, there will be a photo of a cute bear. But this game was a lost, and it wasn’t pretty. Both Braden Holtby and Dany Sabourin gave up three goals in a 6-0 loss to the Providence Bruins.

After a scoreless first period, the Bears and Dany Sabourin gave up three “soft” goals including one from center ice by Kevan Miller and two from Jamie Tardif. Saborin was pulled for Braden Holtby. Holtby made some key saves, but also allowed three more goals, making the final 6-0. Hershey went 0-4 on the power play and gave up three power play goals to the Bruins.

The Bruins began their goal barrage in the second period when Tardif scored on a wrist shot at 3:02. But the goal that really set the tone was the center ice shot from Miller less than three minutes later to make it 2-0. Sabuorin gave up another goal that could have been stopped when Tardif went around the back of the net at 14:48 of the second.

Holtby replaced a frustrated Sabuorin, but the game didn’t go any better. Hershey could score on a two man advantage and then Providence struck on their own power play when Colby Cohen scored at 5:04 of the third period. Craig Cunningham got the final two goals, one at 9:16 and then the sixth goal in the final moments of the game

A large group of Bears fans made the trip to Providence and will continue to follow the team to Manchester for Saturday’s game and then to Bridgeport for Sunday’s 3pm in Bridgeport. Sunday’s game will be seen live on abc27.2 RTV in Harrisburg
