A Look the Hershey Bears’ Outdoor Classic Jerseys

In 1936, the Hershey B’ars were renamed the Hershey Bears, and two years later they joined the American Hockey League. This season marks the 75th season for the Chocolate and White in the AHL, with the team’s history being showcased in the Capital Blue Cross Outdoor Classic.

Earlier last week, the Hershey Bears released the 2013 Outdoor Classic jerseys for the big game in mid-January. The jerseys have been selling like hot cakes at the Bears team store inside of Giant Center. Based on one of the original jerseys, the sweaters are becoming a very hot collectable item.

“The design is from the original 10 years of the team,” said Doug Yingst, team president and general manager. “To highlight that, we added the Outdoor Classic logo and 75th Anniversary patches [on the shoulders.] We sent the pattern to Reebok from the team in the 1940s.”

That patter (seen below) is the one from the original jerseys in the 1930s and 1940s.
