On Saturday night, Bears forward Liam O’Brien was involved in a line brawl against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. O’Brien left the bench and was suspended after the game, pending a league investigation.
Javon, a 5-year-old Hershey Bears and LOB fan, came to Sunday night’s game with a sign reading “Free Liam: I Want #20 Back!” A tweet from Javon’s mom caught the eye of O’Brien, who had to sit out Sunday’s win over Providence:
@Bre_Leigh_ thanks for trying to help bail me out buddy ! Haha

“We didn’t think Liam would be at the game so I put the picture on twitter after warmups and tagged him,” Javon’s mom Breann told Chocolate Hockey. After the game, Javon got to have his picture taken with Liam. That photo would then end up on O’Brien’s Instagram page with the caption “Haha Thanks to this little beauty for the support !”
O’Brien will have to serve a three game suspension, with one game already served, starting Friday. He will miss Friday’s game at Binghamton and Saturday’s game vs. Albany.
