Pheonix Copley Traded to Washington, Returning to Hershey

Pheonix Copley is returning to the Hershey Bears. After getting traded with Troy Brouwer to St. Louis for T.J. Oshie, the 25-year-old netminder has been traded back to Washington along with defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk in exchange for a first round pick, Zach Sanford, and Brad Malone.

The undrafted free agent signed with Washington in 2014 before joining ECHL affiliate South Carolina. Copley went 17-4-3 in 26 games with Hershey in 2015.

In 25 games with the Chicago Wolves this season, Copley has a 2.31 goals against average, 11th best in AHL, and 0.920 save percentage, tied for 11th best in the league as well.

He also punched a guy in the face just over two years ago during a line brawl.

    1. I was thinking the same thing last night. Chorns would have to clear waivers, but sending him down would be good for two reasons: Hershey badly needs effective defense, and it would get him more playing time.
