Hershey Falls Apart Late and Lose Second Straight

There was no media in Mark French’s post game press conference tonight. It was that kind of game. Hershey came out strong, but didn’t finish that way. The Bears and Sound Tigers were tied 2-2 heading into the third, but Braden Holtby let in two goals as Hershey went on to lose, 4-3.

This game had a lot going on, so let’s use bullet points:

Chris Bourque started the scoring with a slapper from the center point, which made it 1-0 Hershey in the first.
Joel Rechlicz threw down the mitts with Trevor Gillies in the middle of the first. The fight ended in a draw.
Brett Flemming tried to throw the puck out of the crease, which is a no-no in hockey. That led to a penalty shot for the Sound Tigers and Nino Niederreiter. Niederreiter would convert the penalty shot and tie the game up at one.
The Sound Tigers got the first goal of the second with the help of Tim Wallace who made the score 2-1.
Jacob Micflikier (who else?) would tie the game up at two with a bad angle shot which some how made it past Anders Nillson.
Weird moment as Braden Holtby would take an elbow the back of the head from Danny Richmond. Holtby would be okay though.
The Bears would have a goal disallowed after Graham Mink would shove one in as the whistle would be blown.
Then came the collapse of the Hershey’s defense. Michael Haley and Tomas Marcinko would have a two-on-one, shorthanded breakaway again Patrick McNeill and Marcinko would put it past Holtby.
David Ullstrom would weave in and out of Bears bring it all the way to the net and gave the Sound Tigers a two goal lead with 6:14 left to play.
The Bears would pull Holtby and would get one goal from Dmitry Orlov, but it wasn’t enough as Hershey falls 4-3.

On a night where the Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau was at the game and guys’ should have impressed, it seems as if the Chocolate and White became less of a team when then needed to become one the most. With the Caps defensemen dropping like flies, it looks like we could be seeing a few call-ups soon. But after the past two games, it feels like more should be sent down to South Carolina than called up.
