Bears Can’t Rally Back against Lake Erie Monsters

Dany Sabourin watches a loose puck roll into the goal.

In the final game of this road stretch, the Bears had to take on the Lake Erie Monsters. After the excitement of their last meeting, it was easy to get excited for this game.

For the third game in a row, the Bears were the first team on the board. Julien Brouillette passed to Ryan Potulny, who one-timed the puck past Cedrick Desjardins. The Monsters weren’t too happy about this goal because Andrew Carroll fell into Desjardins during the play. But the goal counted and remained the only goal of the period.

As seems to be the norm lately, the second period was where things started to go downhill. The Monsters scored three times in the second period. Dany Sabourin was screened by a teammate on the first goal. The second goal was a rebound shot that got past Sabourin. The third goal also involved a rebound shot but Sabourin himself accidentally knocked the rebound in. Overall, Lake Erie took control of the game and started out-shooting the Bears.

The Bears got one back during a third period power play. Chris Bourque‘s shot from the point was deflected by Boyd Kane. But Hershey lost some momentum when Lake Erie scored a power play of their own. Late in the game, Tomas Kundratek scored a confusing goal that was originally waved off and then counted. It’s questionable whether the puck actually crossed the goal line.

But it wouldn’t be enough and Hershey couldn’t complete the comeback. Bears lose, 4-3. The boys return home on Saturday, make sure you cheer loud to let them know how much you missed them.
