Hershey Tops Albany, 3-2 in Shootout Victory

Another holiday, another specialty jersey design. Donning white and green St. Patrick’s Day jerseys, the Bears took to the ice for the first of back-to-back games against the Albany Devils.
For the second night in a row, Tomas Kundratek potted the first goal of the night. His shot may have taken a bounce as it eluded Albany goaltender, Keith Kinkaid. It was the only goal of the period.
The Devils tied it up in the second period when 2-on-1 play evolved and Matt Anderson scored high glove on Dany Sabourin. Albany then took the lead with a shorthanded goal. A misplay at the beginning of a Hershey power play led to a 2-on-none Albany play.
The third period was frustrating for the Bears. They had chance after chance but were unable to find the back of net. Kinkaid was standing on his head and was getting some help from the post too. But with four minutes left in the third period, Kundratek struck once again, scoring during a delayed penalty call to tie it once again.
It all came down to the shootout. Sabourin, was has been fantastic lately, stood up four of the five Albany shooters. Cody Eakin and Boyd Kane scored to ensure the Bears left with a 3-2 SO win!
Tonight’s Notes:
- Tonight marked Daniel Koger‘s Hershey debut. He wore #23 and skated on a line with D.J. King and Maxime Lacroix.
- Patrick Wellar fought Harry Young during the first period. I’d say it was a draw between the two heavyweights.
- D.J. King was hit into the boards and looked to have some trouble putting weight on his right leg. Thankfully, he did return to the game.
- No power play goals tonight for either side. The Bears had four changes and the Devils had two with the man advantage.
