Manchester Monarchs Tackle Hershey Bears, 5-1
The penultimate game of the regular season: Hershey Bears on the road versus Manchester Monarchs.
There were four goals to talk about during the first period; unfortunately only one of them belonged to the Bears. Richard Clune started off the night by deflecting the puck off of his foot. Ryan Potulny tied it up with yet another power play goal from him. He’s pretty good at those. But Monarchs scored two more times on Daren Machesney. A shorthanded goal and a five-hole goal made it 3-1 Monarchs after twenty minutes.
The second period was a lot quieter on the scoring front. The only goal came with 16 seconds left as the Monarchs sent the Bears to locker rooms another goal down.
The surprise of the night was Daren Machesney being pulled in favor of Scott Greenham to start the third period. Greenham has played a total of two AHL games before tonight. He had a valiant effort in the loss, only allowing one goal on eight shots. The goal came during a 5-on-3 disadvantage. But the damage was already done and Bears lost, 5-1.
So that’s that. One more game left as we face off against the Monarchs once again tomorrow.
