AHL Board of Governors meeting concludes

The AHL’s Board of Governors meeting has concluded. You can read the full story on the AHL website. Some interesting highlights include:

The AHL will be test driving a new rule regarding icing. In the event of a potential icing situation if the defending player reaches the face-off dot in his end before the offensive player and the puck has crossed the goal line the play will be be stopped at that point. This rule will be used untilĀ Nov. 19, 2012 at which time it will be decided if it’s use should be continued. An interesting note on this one. This was done at the request of the NHL.

The AHL has approved the use of video review for goals.

There were also a couple minor rule changes and a divisional realignment that didn’t affect the East Division.
