While “Free Agent Frenzy” usually consists on the signing of players, this year an assistant coach joins the mix. The Hershey Bears have announced the hiring of ex-ECHL bench boss, Ryan Mougenel.

Mougenel is a former player under Head Coach Mark Haviland in the ECHL in Atlantic City and previously coached the Las Vegas Wranglers to the 2012 Kelly Cup Finals. He coached Las Vegas from 2009 to this past season. He played from 1997 to 2003 in the ECHL with a few stints in the AHL with Rochester.

This marks Mougenel’s first coaching gig in the American Hockey League. His career coaching record in the East Coast Hockey League is 151-111-26.
