The Hershey Bears announced Monday morning that Jamie Johnson from his standard player’s contract to play in the KHL. The forward played in eight games this season for the Chocolate and White, scoring one goal and four points. Johnson, 31, played last season with Riga Dynamo and will rejoin them where he scored eight goals and 22 points.

“Jamie was given an excellent opportunity to return to the KHL and we wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors,” said Bears President and GM Doug Yingst said in press release today. Johnson qualified as a veteran under the AHL veteran limit rule, causing Johnson to be scratched multiple games this season.

As Johnson heads overseas, former Bear Jon DiSalvatore signed an AHL deal with the Syracuse Crunch. DiSalvatore had 18 goals and 49 points in 68 games with Hershey last season. Syracuse’s general manager Julien BriseBois said that DiSalvatore will not be with the team in time for Syracuse’s game in Hershey Wednesday.

That game Wednesday begins at 7pm in Hershey.
