‘Twas the Night Before Christmas – Hershey Bears Style

IMG_0592

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through GC
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Beak;
The banners were hung in the rafters with care,
In hopes another Calder soon would be there;
The sticks were nestled all snug in their racks,
With visions of goals danc’n into the nets,
And Havi in his toque, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a pre-game snack —
When out in the park’n lot there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter.
Away through the aisles I flew like a flash,
Tore though the main concourse, just missing a lass.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below;
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a shiny zamboni, and eight players come near,
With a snazzy dressed driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Yingst.
More rapid than penguins his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and call’d them by name:
“Now, Walker! Now, Whitmore! Now, Deschamps and Leggio!
“On, Taffe! On, Byers! On, Wellman and Segal!
“To the top of the porch! To the top of the glass!
“Now skate away! Skate away! Skate away fast!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the arena-top, his champions they flew,
As they all shouted out “Merry Christmas, to you!”

Merry Christmas from all of us at Sweetest Hockey on Earth!
