After losing to Syracuse Friday night, the Bears look to win the weekend by putting together back to back victories over the next two days at Giant Center. It starts tonight against a team with one of the worst records in the AHL, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
The Bears come off a 3-2 loss last night at Syracuse, in a game where they only generated 22 shots on goal. Hershey went down 1-0 in the first period on a goal by Mike Angelidis. They got equalizer from Chay Genoway, who’s persistence with shots in front of the net resulted in the first Hershey tally. But Syracuse got the next two, including what turned out to be the game winner by former Bears star Jon DiSalvatore in the second period. Michael Latta would add one on in the third period, but Hershey could not complete the comeback.
The Bears now find themselves in 11th place in the conference playoff race, with the top 8 teams going to the post season. Although Hershey is only three points out that eighth position, the Bears must be cautious of not falling back too many positions in race and then having to climb over too many teams to reach the playoffs.
Victories today and Sunday would give Hershey six victories in their last eight games. Faceoff tonight vs Bridgeport is at 7pm, then Sunday against Albany at 5pm
