Chocolate is sweet. Hockey is sweet. This website is sweet. Revenge is off the charts sweet. Tonight, an opportunity for revenge has presented itself to the Hershey Bears Hockey Club, and the opportunity is scheduled in Providence, Rhode Island against the Bruins.
It was an early postseason exit last season for the Chocolate and White thanks to a Providence Bruins back-end series sweep over the Bears in a best of five.
This season the Bruins will likely not repeat in clinching the top seed of the conference, as they enter Friday night’s game sitting in eighth. In the Providence rear-view mirror are the Hershey Bears, entering play only five points behind the Bruins with two games less played.
Both teams last met in Hershey on December 1, 2013 at Giant Center, where the Bears suffered a 3-2 shootout defeat. Very simply, Hershey needs to be at their best, and this is when their best is absolutely needed.
The Chocolate and White have had a decent record over the last five seasons in Rhode Island, going 2-2 in Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Right now, the Bears have been struggling in their last ten games, going 2-6-1-1. Hershey is 11-13-3-1 on the road this season, with an overall record of 31-23-4-4.
Sports Club Stats has Hershey with a 36.1% chance of making the playoffs heading into Friday night’s game, but a win could easily make that number jump big time.
Goaltender David Leggio will get the start for the 7:05pm puck drop scheduled for tonight at “The Dunk”. Give us a follow over at @sweetesthockey on Twitter for game updates and analysis all night long.
