Hershey Bears Fans Heading to Prom After Scoreboard “Promposal”

It was another normal night for Stephanie Norford when she arrived to the Hershey Bears game Friday with her boyfriend Johnny Dengler. Little did she know, she would be asked to prom that night in a very special way.

Dengler, a junior at Red Land High School, had the tickets for the match up between the Chocolate and White and the Albany Devils for about two weeks. “I really wanted to ask her in a cool way because I knew it was special to her and just thought it would be great to do it at a Bears game because we both love hockey.”

The two waited in their seats during the first intermission as the special greetings ran by, but as the birthdays and anniversaries passed by Johnny knew something big was about to happen. “I was very excited. I was waiting the whole first period. I was jittery and I was ready.”

For Stephanie, she had a bit of an idea that it could happen at the game, but was excited when it did happened. “He kept telling me to make sure I had off for this specific game,” said the Ceder Cliff High School senior. “He was like ‘Oh, I have a surprise for you’ so I had a feeling something was up.”

The graphic popped up, the crowd “Aw’d”, and Stephanie and Johnny where heading to prom together. “I was like ‘Oh my gosh! This really just happened!’ I tried to get a picture and obviously said yes!” The icing on the cake was the Bears making their huge comeback over the Devils in the third period to send the two away with a victory as well.

The two will now be heading to prom together after setting up their date in a way the two will not forget anytime soon.
