While the Washington Capitals’ playoff hopes for 2014 has come to a halt, the organization’s attention now turns to the future. That future will include Chandler Stephenson, who recently has agreed to a three year entry level contract with the Capitals’ organization.

Stephenson recently finished his fourth year in the WHL with the Regina Pats, the same Major Junior team that housed Garrett Mitchell. He was the 77th overall draft pick in the 2012 NHL Draft by Washington. In the 2013-14 campaign with Regina, the forward notched 89 points in 69 games.

The Capitals are reporting the Stephenson will report to Hershey tomorrow on a tryout contract. This could give Hershey a bit more depth with five games left as they try to grab one of the final playoff spots for the 2014 Calder Cup playoffs.
