After a big win over Albany Saturday night, the Hershey Bears looked to extend their lead on their new first place lead in the East Division. Another five goal night did that for the Bears, giving them a 5-2 win over Lehigh Valley, and a three point lead at top of the East Division.
The Bears are looking hot lately, going 7-2-1-0 in their last ten, and taking this weekend, and scoring 10 goals in two games. Hershey scored first with a breakaway from Tim Kennedy. Former Bear Andrew Gordon tied the game up at 1-1 just a few minutes later, but a Dane Byers tip on a Kris Newbury shot and a Chris Conner power play goal gave Hershey a 3-1 lead heading into the second.
Lehigh Valley cut the lead to 3-2 in the second, setting up for a big third period. The score would stay at 3-2 until Byers scored his second 15 minutes into the third, extending the lead to two goals. Dustin Gazley would top it all off with an empty netter goal, giving the Bears the 5-2 win.
The W was also Pheonix Copley’s seventh on the season, improving his record to 7-3-1-1. Hershey takes on Lehigh Valley again Wednesday in Allentown. The game can be seen on abc27.2 RTV.
