Washington Capitals prospect Madison Bowey scored his first professional goal Sunday night with the Hershey Bears. The 20-year-old tied the game for Hershey against Hartford with a shot from the left side on goalie Jeff Malcolm.
“It feels good,” Bowey said about the goal. “It’s nice to get it out of the way early.” Joining Hershey from the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets where he had 17 goals last season, the Winnipeg native has drawn comparison’s to former Bear and current Capital John Carlson with his style of play.
Hershey lost the game to Hartford in a shootout after Jakub Vrana scored with 12.1 seconds left in the third period to tie the game and send it to overtime. “At the end of the day, it’s not the result we wanted. We had a good weekend but it would have been to have gotten those two points. We got five out of the six points we wanted. Anytime you can do that in a three in three, it’s pretty good.”
Hershey currently sits in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with a .583 point percentage.
