Paul Carey Scores First NHL Goal with Washington

One day after getting his second recall from Hershey to the NHL, Paul Carey scored his first NHL goal Saturday afternoon. Carey played in only 24 NHL games before today, scoring only one point, an assist, in a stint with Colorado last season. On Saturday, that monkey on the 27-year-old’s back was lifted, as he scored the game-tying goal for Washington against New Jersey, sending the game to overtime for the Capitals, and later a shootout, in which Washington would win.
