Scott Gomez Signs with the Ottawa Senators for Remainder of Season

Scott Gomez has gotten one more shot at the NHL. The 36-year-old center had been on a PTO with the Hershey Bears, but exercised his option for release from the contract Tuesday.

In 18 games, Gomez scored 24 points and was a major part in the development of Bears forwards Nathan Walker, Riley Barber, Travis Boyd, and many others.

Gomez joined Hershey in min-January, only a few weeks after being released from the St. Louis Blues. In his first interview as a Bear, Gomez said he was in Hershey to play hockey and help out as much as he could.

Ottawa Senators’ beat writer Bruce Garrioch from the Ottawa Sun first reported the signing of Gomez. The deal is a one-way contract at $575,000, a depth boost for the Senators to finish out the season.
