Best Bears Questions From Our Twitter Q & A
I did a Question and Answer on Twitter tonight over on the blog’s account @ChocHockey. There were a lot of questions and wanted to save some of the best ones to give a bit longer than 140 characters to answer. Here are all of those questions.
@ChocHockey what would you say is the reason the Bears have had the success theyve had so far this season? #HBH #SweetHockeyQuestion
— DJ Jones (@CottonEyeJones) May 17, 2016
Buying into the system helps a lot. This team bought into what Troy Mann was preaching from day one. Having a good locker room core with the rookies really helped too, but overall this team bought in and stayed in.
@ChocHockey NOT A KNOCK on Ellis/Peters but do you think things would have played out differently if Grubi/Copley were still here?
— chrs reynolds (@jlcreynold) May 17, 2016
Yes. Those are two young goalies. Nothing against them, both are really talented and great netminders, but the veteran presence in net I think has really helped this team.
@ChocHockey what rumors are you hearing about affiliation shake ups in PA?
— Bane (@Bane35) May 17, 2016
Very little anymore. The best rumor I heard was Hershey was going to buy the Penguins (not Wilkes-Barre, Pittsburgh), sell Wilkes-Barre to the Capitals for them to move to Norfolk or Baltimore, and then the Bears would be the Penguins affiliate. 99.9% chance Hershey is with Washington next season.
@ChocHockey which bears player do you think is the most ready to move up to the caps next season?
— Quinn Calderone (@QCQC1427) May 17, 2016
This is a tough one. Chandler Stephenson is very high on the Caps list and probably is “the most ready” for the NHL, but struggled in the playoffs until the last game he played before getting hurt.
@ChocHockey I like the Caps-Bears partnership. Do fans feel the same way and want to continue. Or is it time to move on?
— Arian Ravanbakhsh (@adravan) May 17, 2016
Depends on who you ask. As many Bears fans know, nothing will ever make some Bears fans happy unless the team goes 91-0, scores ten goals a game, and beat the living crap out of every player on the other team. I think most fans are happy with the affiliation. They should be – three Cups in ten years.
@ChocHockey what other ahl player would you like to see play for Hershey before they retire? Or return of a former bear?
— Chris Geesey (@Bballdrummer21) May 17, 2016
I did answer this one on twitter but thought about it more. I said I’d love to see Andrew Gordon or Alex Giroux return to Hershey, but a player that has never played for the Bears that I’d love to see is Mike McKenna. After that Portland series, I was really impressed with his play. Would love to see him come in and work with a guy like Vitek Vanecek next season.
@ChocHockey Any idea how many STHs the Bears have? I’ve always been curious. More pertinent, who should we hope to face in the next round?
— Eileen Daub (@daubie99) May 17, 2016
Not really sure about this one. Easily in the thousands. If you count partial and full season ticket holders, it’s at least three thousand. Really amazing compared to other teams in the league and area.
@chochockey Is Stephenson better as a bottom 6 forward or top 6 forward? How will he fit into the caps line up? They seem to love him.
— Kim Cepietz (@kacepietz13) May 17, 2016
I think he’s a bit of a tweener. Could easily be a top six guy, or a bottom six guy. Reminds me a bit of Boyd Gordon when he was in Hershey and Washington. Solid power play and penalty kill guy. Should be a good piece for the Caps for the next few seasons.
@ChocHockey most talented players on both Marlies and Devils?n(Not Carrick– still bitter about that trade & his skills!)
— Eileen (@MissEileen) May 17, 2016
With Albany knocked out, I’ll just focus on Toronto. William Nylander has been praised as one of the top prospects in all of hockey. A concussion at the World Juniors didn’t help, but he’s still one of the best young talents out there. And Connor Carrick leads the AHL in points. Oops.
@ChocHockey what kind of NHL potential do you see in Boyd and Barber? Maybe good two way 3C for Boyd and 2RW for Barber?
— Vlad (@vcrapatureanu) May 17, 2016
Exactly. Barber will thrive with a guy like Evgeny Kuznetsov if he ever gets to play with him. I think Boyd will surprise people with his scoring ability once he makes the NHL.
