Madison Bowey Cleared of Wrongdoing in Game Four
In Friday night’s Game Four of the AHL’s Eastern Conference Finals between Hershey Bears and Toronto Marlies, Bears defenseman Madison Bowey delivered a high hit with his elbow to Marlies forward Kasperi Kapanen. Bowey received a five-minute major for elbowing and a game misconduct as well for the hit. Bowey will not be suspended for the hit, Chocolate Hockey has learned.
Bowey was also falsely accused on social media that he said a homophobic slur to Kapanen as he was heading to the penalty box. Many people jumped to a conclusion after video and gifs were published that Bowey said a slur, but the AHL said that no slur was uttered by the defenseman.
Hershey lost Game Four to Toronto 5-0. Game Five takes place Sunday afternoon at 3 PM.
