Tom Gilbert heading to Germany for 2017-18 season
Veteran defenseman Tom Gilbert has signed with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers of the DEL for the 2017-18 season.
Gilbert joined Hershey late in the 2016-17 season from the Ontario Reign after the Washington Capitals had reached a deal with the Los Angeles Kings to acquire the 34-year-old blueliner
In his short tenure with the Bears, the Minnesota native made great impressions among his teammates, bringing more than just his experience which includes 655 NHL appearances.
Gilbert now heads to the Deutsche Eishockey Liga and Nurnberg to join the Ice Tigers. This move to Europe should put Gilbert in the running for a spot in the USA Olympic hockey team.
