Madison Bowey Recalled By Washington, Niskanen Placed On LTIR

Madison Bowey recalled by Washington, Niskanen placed on LTIR

The Washington Capitals announced Saturday morning that defenseman Madison Bowey has been recalled after Matt Niskanen was placed on long-term injured reserve the same morning.

Bowey, 22, was one of the Capitals last cuts during training camp due to Washington having their back to the salary cap wall this season. Niskanen’s placement on LTIR frees up space now for Bowey’s recall.

After a major ankle injury last season, Bowey returned and helped Hershey make the Calder Cup Playoffs, scoring an overtime game-winning goal against Providence in the second round.

Niskanen will miss a minimum of 10 games now with the placement on LTIR.
