Connor Hobbs Scores First Pro Goal In Front Of His Dad

Connor Hobbs scores first pro goal in front of his dad

After his postgame interview with the Bears media, Connor Hobbs couldn’t locate the puck he scored his first professional goal with. Once the rookie was finally able to get a hold of the puck, he posed for a photo with it, sporing a large smile on his face.

He had that smile for a good reason. It wasn’t just his first professional goal, but also his first professional point as well as the game-winning goal for the Bears to earn their first home win of the 2017-18 season.

“It was pretty special,” said Hobbs. “It felt really good. It was good to finally get it. It’s been a few games now, been waiting for it, wanting it.”

The defenseman’s third-period power play goal against Providence propelled Hershey to a 3-2 victory for the Bears.

Hobbs also had his father, Calvin, in attendance Saturday night to watch him for the first time in a Chocolate and White sweater, flying in from Saskatoon to see his son play and get the game-winner for his team. “It felt really good to do that in front of him.”

Now Hobbs will look to continue his success and the team’s success into Sunday’s game against Hartford. “Tomorrow’s huge. We talk a lot about winning the week. If we don’t win tomorrow, we don’t win the week.”
