Zach Sill signs with Czech Republic team Sparta Prague
Former Hershey Bears center Zach Sill has agreed to a deal with Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic for the 2018-19 season.
Sill spent the last three seasons with Hershey, playing 206 games for the Chocolate and White since 2015. The Nova Scotia native was instrumental in Hershey’s 2016 playoff run, spearheading the penalty kill with Ryan Bourque on the Bears way to a Calder Cup Finals appearance.
Over three seasons with the Bears, Sill scored 23 goals and 60 points and had a short stint with Washington, scoring one goal in ten games for the Capitals.
A veteran leader in the locker room, Sill’s time with the Bears will likely be remembered by his contributions off the ice, becoming a fan favorite early on in his Hershey stint, as well as wearing an alternate captain’s “A” on his sweater all three seasons with Hershey.
Sill now joins Sparta Prague in the Czech Extraliga. One of the more popular teams in the Czech Republic, Prague plays in front of crowds upwards of 17,000 fans in the O2 arena, the second largest hockey rink in all of Europe.
