Christian Djoos sent teddies flying

Christian Djoos returned to Hershey after being called up to Washington for four games just in time for the annual Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday night. The Hershey Bears broke their world record with a new total of 45,650 teddy bears.

With eager Bears fans, ready to throw their teddy bears onto the ice, the Bears had a few good chances, leaving the fans on the edge of their seats. Eight minutes into the first period, Mike Sgarbossa found Joe Snively in front of the net. Snively sent the puck back to Djoos, allowing him to get it passed Hartford’s netminder, Adam Huska. Djoos scored, sending Bears fans into a frenzy, and the teddy bears started raining down.

“Everyone wants that goal, it’s a fun thing,” Christian Djoos told the media. “It’s for a great cause and the [fans] seem to love it.”

Christian Djoos is a depth player that Hershey has missed in the lineup. He adds a little extra something that helps the Bears on the defensive side of things. Djoos creates chances and reads the ice so well.

“He’s a difference maker, he has world class poise with the puck,” Head Coach Spencer Carbery said during postgame interviews. “He has a calmness that he can [outdo] guys when they get a foot or two feet in front of him. He can make [the other players] miss or go around them, and thats something you can not teach to defensemen”
