Frank, Priskie, Re-Sign with Capitals Prior to Free Agency Kick-Off

While Free Agency is just hours away, the Bears seem set to have two of their top producers on both ends of the rink return to Chocolatetown.

According to the contract tracking website PuckPedia, the Washington Capitals have re-signed both Frank and Priskie to new contracts.

Frank was all but a given, considering his status as both the Bears leading goal scorer the last two seasons, which has put him on the precipice of a call-up to the NHL, along with the fact Frank was an RFA whose rights were only Washington’s and he had been officially qualified this morning.

Frank, who scored 29 goals and added 18 assists in 64 regular season games for the Bears this season, has signed a two-year contract with Washington. The first year is considered a two-way contract (meaning Frank’s salary is different depending on if he plays in Washington or Hershey) while the second year is a one-way deal, meaning Frank will get paid the full $775,000 his contract would count against the Capitals cap space if he plays in the NHL no matter where he plays in the 2025-26 season.

This was an expected contract, and while Frank is expected to compete for the few open winger positions Washington currently has in training camp, his official re-signing is great news for the back-to-back champion Bears.

Priskie, who scored 8 goals and had 26 assists from the back end last season, was one of the Bears primary point producers from the defense core, and was the quarterback for the Bears second power play unit. He signs a one year deal, and is expected to be a key part to Hershey;s title defense next season.

It still sets up to be an interesting offseason for the Bears, as they look to replace offense that could be lost from players like Hendrix Lapierre, Joe Snively and potentially Ivan Miroshnichenko. We here at Chocolate Hockey will keep you updated as the free agency period continues this summer.
