During the summer months in Chocolate Town, USA, the warm air is typically filled with the lively atmosphere of Hersheypark and the smell of cocoa beans. Families enjoy a highly ranked amusement park, gain a thrill off Chocolate World, and even enjoy a summer time concert.

At Hersheypark Stadium on July 5th and 6th, a venue which once housed an American Hockey League game, was the setting for a One Direction concert. One Direction for those that do not know is a British boy band with millions upon millions of fans. Preteen and teenage girls (and helpless parents) packed the stadium to witness a concert from one of the top music groups in the world. Tickets for that spectacle sold out within days after its release in 2012.

However during the concerts, a surprise appearance of a Hershey Bears jersey was seen, worn by two band members, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, during one of the concerts. Both donned their names, along with the number 13. Video of the two pop stars has been posted on YouTube and can be seen about 1:20 into it.

But that’s not the only connection Hershey has had to celebrities. Former Bears defenseman, Steven Oleksy, met up with superstar Justin Bieber. Oleksy tweeted out his exchange with Bieber

A twitter account named “Hockey God” would chime in and chirp Oleksy.

Then last week, three more boy bands, the Jonas Brothers, New Kids on the Block, and Hanson, faced off with the Hershey Bears Booster Club in a broomball game at Giant Center. Hanson played the Jonas Brothers in the first game, with Team Jonas coming out on top 2-1. In the second game, NKOTB would beat the Jonas Brothers. All teams would have help from the booster club.

Could we see two more jerseys on stage when Justin Timberlake and Jay Z come to Hersheypark Stadium for their concert? But fortunately in only two months, Giant Center will again be filled with hockey fans to restore a separate genre of atmosphere in Hershey.
