Dane Byers Re-Signed for 2014-15 Season

The Hershey Bears team leader is coming back next season. On Friday. the Bears re-signed Captain Dane Byers for the 2014-15 season. Byers scored 15 goals, recorded 22 assists and lead the team in penalty minutes with 211. Byers played in his 500th AHL game on February 28th.

But numbers don’t tell all of Byers’ story. The AHL veteran provided the locker room and on-ice leadership that kept the Bears in the playoff race until the final weekend. Byers had expressed a strong interest in returning to Hershey during an interview on his exit interview day at Giant Center.

The Bears are the third team that Byers has served as a captain. He previously wore the C for Springfield and Hartford. His leadership will certainly have a strong impact next season, for what should be a much different Hershey Bears team.
