Tom Wilson Finishes Strong Two Games in Hershey
Tom Wilson is hoping he’s played his last game in Hershey. The Caps forward played two games with the Bears including Sunday night’s 3-0 win over the Phantoms.
Wilson is trying to get back to game ready following his ankle injury earlier in the year. The 20-year-old may be going back to the Caps this week when Washington returns from their western Canada swing.
“I felt a lot better tonight,” Wilson said after the game. “My ankle felt great. My legs came a little better tonight. I felt like I had a good hop and a pretty good pace. I just wanted to come out anyway I could. I wanted to play a good two-way game at both ends of the ice. I was out there for a big goal.
“I just didn’t want to go out there thinking about (the ankle) and I didn’t.”
As of Sunday night Wilson and Coach Troy Mann weren’t sure if Wilson was going back to Washington or if he’d spend more time in Hershey.
“We’ll just have to wait and see tomorrow if they’ll pull him up.” said Mann. “I thought overall he moved his legs well tonight and his timing is getting better.”
Wilson expressed similar thoughts about going up. “Your guess is as good as mine. It’s just kind of hanging around and playing your game. Obviously you want to be in (Washington) so we’ll see what happens.”
The Bears will be taking a long bus ride to New England this weekend for a three-in-three series against Manchester and Worcester.
