As the turkey heats up in the oven for Thanksgiving tomorrow, the Hershey Bears – Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins rivalry is heating up with each meeting this season. Coming into this evening’s game, the Bears have won seven straight against the Penguins at Giant Center. Hershey was looking to make that eight straight with the traditional Thanksgiving eve game.
It took 48 minutes for someone to find the back of the net, when Stan Galiev scored his second goal of the season to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. As time was winding down, Wilkes-Barre would pull their goalie and tie the game up at 1-1 with under a minute remaining. This one would go to a shootout, with Dustin Gazley and Chris Brown scoring, as Philipp Grubauer made three saves to give Hershey the 2-1 win.
