Patrick Wey Announces Retirement

After a second concussion suffered at the beginning of the 2014-15 season, Patrick Wey has chosen to retire from the game of hockey. On October 24th in a game against Lehigh Valley, Wey took a high to the head from Jay Rosehill, who would be suspended three games for the hit. This resulted in a consussion for Wey only three games into his season.
In his first NHL fight in March of last year, Nashville’s Rich Clune hit Wey with an uppercut, knocking him out and giving him his first concussion. He would miss the remainder of the 2013-14 season with the injury.

Over two seasons, the 24-year-old Wey played in 31 games for the Chocolate and White, scoring one goal and putting up six assists. He was ranked as Washington’s second best defensive prospect by many analysts coming into the 2013-14 season.
