Lucas Johansen scores first professional point Saturday night
Saturday night at Giant Center defenseman and former Capitals first-round pick Lucas Johansen scored his first professional point with an assist on Chandler Stephenson’s first-period goal.
“We were pretty close into the goalie there,” Johansen said remembering the goal. “The crowd was yelling shoot so we had to get one off. Just trying to set up a different angle shot.”
Johansen, 19, is in his first pro season with Hershey after being drafted in 2016 from the Kelowna Rockets. So far, Johansen has been adjusting to the AHL pretty well.
“I felt better tonight compared to my first game. I think it takes time. It’s obviously an adjustment for all the young guys. Tonight, even though we got the loss, personally I felt a little better with the puck and made better decisions. Keep turning in that direction.”
