Hershey Bears hold annual Pink the Rink night

The Hershey Bears held their sixth annual Pink the Rink night Sunday night Giant Center.

The Bears teamed up once again with Mixed Up Productions to sell shirts and other pink-themed items for the American Cancer Society.

“It means the world to me and it means the world to so many,” said Wendy Wolpert, a Bears season ticket holder, and breast cancer survivor. “I’ve met so many other survivors just here tonight. Whether they have pink on or not, they truly are coming together to support an amazing cause.

“Finding a cure would the be the ultimate wish for everybody for any type of cancer for that matter. The team they’re there and whether they’re winning or losing, whatever is going on, it’s all put to the side for a great cause tonight.”

Large canvases were auctioned off for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer with the American Cancer Society. They included shots of the whole team standing in a Pink Ribbon, a “Flying V”, lounging in the locker room, and a collage of players in front of the stick rack.

There were also shots of the team’s captains (Garrett Mitchell, Chris Bourque, Zach Sill) and the four goaltenders (Adam Carlson, Pheonix Copley, Parker Milner, and Vitek Vanecek).
