Vecchione A Spark For Bears Vs Coachella

Vecchione a spark for Bears vs Coachella

Wash, rinse, repeat.

From our mouths to God’s ears. You can that again!

What ever the cliché you want to use.  Go ahead and use it because it applies Mike Vecchione.

Energizer bunny. Mr. Clutch.

Mr. Game 7. Check that we  won’t use anything referring to last year.

In Game 2 against Coachella Valley Mike Vecchione was the spark to get Hershey going.

While Ivan Miroshnichenko get credit for the tally, for a goal he scored while going to his knee, it was the hustle and grit from Veccs that created this opportunity.

Veccs shuffled a pass along from the Bears own zone, absorbed a hit and came flying into the offensive zone alone the near side boards.  As he gathered the puck he made a nifty little deak to avoid another hit creating space before feeding a beautiful pass to Miro and games first goal.

Vecchione wasn’t done.  Midway through the third.  As Bob Flounders of Pennlive.com and I discussed Hershey winning face-off’s in the O-zone up in the press box. Hendrix Lapierre was thrown out of the circle and #19 sauntered in.

Off the draw, Veccs won it clean straight to Hardy Hamen Aktell who drilled it home for a huge two goal advantage for Hershey.

“He has been working hard this whole playoff series. It may not show on the scoreboard a whole lot,” said Todd Nelson when asked about one of team leaders. “He is on that line especially tonight with two younger guys with Rybinski and Miro, he has been solid through the playoffs. He may not me lighting the lamp as much as you expect. I just think he was better rested today vs Game 1.”

Vecchione has two goals through the playoffs to go along with seven assists and as we saw against the Cleveland in Game 1 of the Conference Finals his late game heroics are still there. After the game when asked if that was a goal to get him going Veccs deferred saying “I’m always going to be hard on myself to be better,” and went on to say that all the lines are playing well and that is most important thing.

As long as Veccs has his “boots going North” expect whatever line he is on to have a positive impact on the game as he is playing some good hockey.
