Bears End Road Trip with Win in Wilkes-Barre

Early Friday, EA Sports showed their “AHL Sim of the Week,” featuring Hershey and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the simulation. The simulation showed the Bears coming out on top with a 2-1 victory. The Chocolate and White must have heard because they would take the non-virtual two points with a 3-1 win over the Baby Pens.
After a somewhat slow first period, the Bears would turn it up right off the bat in the second. On the power play, captain Boyd Kane would deflect Tomas Kundratek’s original shot past Wilkes-Barre’s goalie, Jeff Zatkoff, giving Hershey a 1-0 lead.
Hershey would not give up the lead after that. Zach Hamill would score his own power play goal late in the second, extending Hershey’s lead to 2-0.
Goalie Braden Holtby would give up a goal to Penguin’s Riley Holzapfel halfway though the third period, but that would be the only slip up for the netminder as he would have a 38 save night, improving his GAA to 1.47.
Jeff Taffe added on a PP empty netter to give Hershey their two goal lead back and the 3-1 win over WBS.
Former Bears captain and “The Mayor of Hershey,” Dean Arsene returns to Chocolate Town, USA tomorrow as his St. John Ice Caps take on the Bears at 7pm in Hershey.
