A little event happened at the end of last week that you might have heard about. It’s called the NHL Entry Draft. Here’s the Caps roundup [RMNB]

Former Bear Claude Noel was named as the head coach of the new Winnipeg Jets [Jets]

Think Braden Holtby should be the Caps #1 goaltender? Bleacher Report thinks so. [Bleacher Report]

Washington makes qualifying offers to several RFAs including Mathieu Perreault and Francios Bouchard. [Dump ‘N Chase]

More Bear coaching news… Brent Thompson who won the Kelly Cup with the Alaska Aces in the ECHL this year has been hired by Bridgeport at their head coach [PennLive]

Starting to sound like a broken record, but another former Bear, Paul Jerrard, joins the NHL coaching ranks. Noticing a trend? [statesmen]

Notes:

Capitals Development Camp runs July 11-16 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va.  Camp is open to the public, so head down and check out some potential future Bears.

NHL free agency is about to go into full swing.  Caps majority owner Ted Leonsis stated “…don’t be surprised if you see some trades.” It should be an interesting week.  It is very possible that we could see some Bears leaving and new prospects coming into Hershey.  Who from Hershey do you think might be included in a package deal?
