Remembering Wade Belak

By now, many have heard about the untimely passing of Wade Belak. Many of us are still trying to come to grips with his death as well as the others over the summer. Typically, summers are quiet in the hockey world, but this one may well be remembered as a summer of tragic young deaths.

Many of you are familiar with Belak’s enforcer work in the NHL, but how many of you knew that he was a Hershey Bear? He spent a season with the Bears on his way to the NHL. In fact, he was part of the 1996-1997 Calder Cup winning team. His name will forever be engraved in the AHL’s most hallowed of prizes. In researching another story, I happened to come across some videos of him as a Bear. Take a moment to watch and remember the storied career of Wade Belak.
