Washington Capitals recall Keith Aucoin

Around 6:30 pm on Thursday night, Ryan Potulny tweeted Keith Aucoin “good luck buddy” and “you deserve it.” There was a bit of speculation on what was going on. Was Aucoin being called up? Or was Potulny just messing with the AHL leading scorer? If you guessed with that Aucoin was getting his first call-up to the big show this season, you guessed correctly.

Aucoin, 33, already has 70 points this season for Hershey and was having a season to remember before this call up. It has been a busy day for the Capitals and the Bears with the trade of Matt Ford to Philadelphia and Danny Richmond to Colorado and Cody Eakin being sent back to Hershey.

The Capitals play Saturday in Montreal. Hershey starts a 3-in-3 weekend in WBS, before coming back home and facing off against NHL “pest” Sean Avery and the Connecticut Whale

  1. It’s Aucoin’s first callup for this year but he has played for the Caps before and, before that, some games with Carolina.
