Bears Trump Senators to Earn Seventh Straight Win

While many fans were heading to Fire Alley to watch the game last night, the Bears were up North, preparing to face off against the Binghamton Senators.

The Senators were the first on the board with a tally from Stephane DaCosta just over five minutes into the game. But Mike Carman tied it up by redirecting a feed from Bourque. Tomas Kundratek followed that up with a power play goal to give the Bears the lead going into the second period.

The power play unit continued to show off during the second stanza. Chris Bourque earned his 26th goal of the season with a shot from the point during the man advantage. Ryan Potulny earned the third power play goal of the night with his standard one-timer from the right face-off circle. The Senators got a goal back before the end of forty minutes when Andre Petersson beat Dany Sabourin.

Binghamton goaltender Mike McKenna was pulled after the fourth goal and Robin Lehner took over the crease. But Mike Carman scored his second goal of the night during the third period to make sure the Bears maintained control of the game. Bears win, 5-2!

Finally, we’d like to thank all the great Bears fans who came out to Fire Alley last night. The party was a success and we earned a lot of money to give to the Ronald McDonald House! Go Bears!

Tonight’s Notes:

  • Before the game, the Capitals called up Cody Eakin to join the team in Boston.
  • Chris Bourque led the team with a four point night, one goal and three assists. Additionally, Ryan Potulny now has points in six straight games. It’s nice to see guys stepping up with all of the current injuries.
  • We can’t say it enough but Dany Sabourin really has been playing great. He stopped 35 of 37 shots and stood tall against a penalty shot in the third period.
  • Killer night for the special teams. The Bears scored three of their five goals while on the power play. They also stifled all five of Binghamton’s man advantages.
