Mark French, the man who lead the Hershey Bears to the best season in team history, is back in North America. French was recently named head coach of the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen.

French spent last season in the KHL with Medvescak Zagreb in Croatia. He joins his former boss Bob Woods in the WHL as a former Bears coach to be named bench bosses of teams up north.

The Milton, Ontario native spent four seasons manning the Chocolate and White, winning one Calder Cup in the 2009-10 season. That team went 60-17-0-3 during the regular season, breaking all types of AHL and hockey records. Medvescak Zagreb finished with a 24-4-12-14 record last season, being knocked out in the first round of the KHL playoffs.
