Team Chemistry a Priority With Coach Troy Mann and Hershey

When Troy Mann was hired as Hershey Bears head coach and Bryan Helmer named his assistant, there was a renewed optimism from Bears fans this past summer. After an awkwardly bad 2013-14 season, the return of Mann and Helmer to Hershey helped to give Hershey a feeling of returning to the pride that won the Bears back to back Calder Cups.

Just two weeks into the season, the Bears lineup shows significant differences from last season. A new administration in Washington, with a stronger commitment to Hershey has helped as well. But perhaps most importantly has been the team chemistry the Bears have developed off the ice. In the early days of the season, the team bonded with a golf outing and even went bowling.

“I’m real happy with the leadership group,” said Coach Troy Mann. “We identified a core group of six or seven guys and they’ve been doing a real good job. Guys are coming to the rink real early. I know it’s early in the season, but overall the guys seem to be enjoying playing with each other.”

The Bears will play three more road games before the home opener on Saturday October 25 against the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins 7pm at Giant Center.
