The Charlotte Checkers and Bridgeport Sound Tigers play in front of absolutely no one

The Charlotte Checkers told their fans to stay home from Wednesday night’s game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to an unusual snowfall in the North Carolina city. With Charlotte not used to the snow, the Checkers felt the need to close the game to the public for safety reasons.

Rather than deal with the headache of rescheduling — Bridgeport travels for two straight games in Charlotte much like the Bears and other teams do — the show went on before an audience of zero fans.

The Checkers were short staffed, so some folks in the Checkers’ staff had to take on different roles that the team shared on Twitter.

The Checkers would end up beating Bridgeport 4-3.
