Chris Bourque records two assists in USA win over Slovakia

Chris Bourque picked up his first two points of the 2018 Olympics with two assists in a 2-1 victory over Slovakia.

Bourque assisted on both of Ryan Donato’s goals in the game, both on the power play.

The US got on the board in the first period when Bourque started a breakout from their own zone, finding Troy Terry who would split a series of defenders heading into the Slovakia zone. Terry would drop the puck off for Donato who sent it home for the first goal of the game.

Slovakia would respond 25-seconds later to tie the game 1-1 with a puck dribbling over the USA goalline.

It would take until the third period until the US would break the deadlock. Bourque, quarterbacking the power play from the point, set up Mark Arcobello to find Donato again who used a nifty spin-around move to give the Americans the lead back.

Bourque would finish the night with 16:38 time on ice, spending the entire game on a line with Jordan Greenway and Bobby Butler.

The USA faces the Olympic Athletes from Russia on Saturday at 7 am EST, looking to expand upon their four points through two games, currently the best in their group.

  1. Great game Chris. We feel good going into the Russia game because of your “refuse to lose” game you play. We are impressed by the entire team and cannot wait for the game.
