How does a star from NBC’s Saturday Night Live get excited hearing about a Hershey Bears player? It happened at an appearance last week at Shippensburg University by Kenan Thompson. In an interview with ChocolateHockey.com’s Matt Trust, the SNL comedian had an enthusiastic response upon hearing the story of Bears’ forward Nathan Walker.
At Wednesday’s Hershey Bears game, there was a special request made by a fan during warm-ups. No, they didn’t want a puck or a stick, this fan wanted a date. Rachel Palepale, a senior at Central York High School, held up a sign behind the Bears bench saying Bears forward Dustin Gazley to prom.

Dmitry Orlov finished his three game rehab stint with the Hershey Bears on Wednesday night. These were his first professional hockey games played in since May 2014 at the IIHF World Championships. Orlov broke his wrist after a collision into the boards during the series.

The Bears aren’t going to win every home game. It only seemed like they could. Facing their former teammate, Portland goalie David Leggio, the Bears dropped a 5-1 decision to the Pirates on Sunday night at Giant Center.

The Hershey Bears had a special guest at their game Saturday night against Albany. Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz paid a visit to Chocolate Town, USA for Hershey’s 4-2 win over the Devils. Washington, who made a trade earlier in the day sending Jack Hillen to Carolina for Tim Gleason, is on the brink of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Saturday night the voice of the NHL Mike “Doc” Emrick came to Hershey to induct five members of the Hershey Bears hall of fame. For the third season in a row Emrick was the MC for Bears hall of fame ceremony and talked about how this year’s class was a special one.

October 3rd, 2013, Washington Capitals defenseman Jack Hillen fractures his right tibial against the Calgary Flames during Washington’s home opener. The 28-year-old Hillen has now completed two games in a Chocolate and White sweater after sitting out almost five months.
Sunday night during Hershey’s 6-3 loss to Charlotte, the d-man played alongside Tyson Strachan, finishing the night with three shots and two points. Below the jump, watch Hillen talk about his first games back since the injury and how he is feeling now.

After being eliminated from the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, Connor Carrick returned to Hershey to rejoin the Bears. What should have had Connor returning before 10:00 pm on Friday turned into one heck of a trip, having him return right before the Bears win Saturday night.

The Hershey Bears have had many bobble head nights though the years, but Saturday night will be a first in the Chocolate and White’s history. The Bears will hold Joel Rechlicz “bobble fist” night this Saturday, December 21st. The head does not move on this giveaway, but the object that has made Joel famous on the ice, will.

June 15th, 2010. 11,002 Bears fans packed Giant Center for the largest crowd in the building’s history. Michal Neuvirth raised his second straight Calder Cup after a 22-save shutout of the Texas Stars. 1278 days later, he stepped back out on the ice in a Hershey uniform for the first time since raising the Calder Cup.
