Chris Bourque Receives Special Item in NHL 17 HUT for All-Star Game Performance

Wednesday morning EA Sports announced they have released a special Chris Bourque card in NHL 17 Hockey Ultimate Team in honor of his performance at the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic.

Bourque, who was captain of the AHL All-Star team’s Eastern Conference squad, posted one goal and four assists in the game. The Atlantic Divison lost to the Central Divison in a shootout after not losing a game in their first three games.

Hershey Bears Participating in Running For Rachel Fundraiser on February 8th

Every year, in conjunction with the Hershey Bears, Arooga’s Grille House and Sports Bar coordinates a fundraising night at their locations where Hershey Bears players make an on-site appearance to meet guests, sign autographs, guest bartend, etc. to benefit “Running for Rachel,” a yearly 5K which supports Duodenal cancer research.

Rachel Guss, for which the charity was named after, was a local to the Harrisburg area and was known by many Arooga’s employees. She lost her battle with the aggressive illness in 2011. Last year this event raised over $8,000 in just two hours to benefit the charity’s annual 5K.

Doug Yingst and Bryan Helmer Inducted into AHL Hall of Fame

Their names are synonymous with the great tradition of Hershey Bears hockey. Now their names are forever enshrined with the legends of the American Hockey League. Monday morning in Allentown, Doug Yingst and Bryan Helmer became the newest members of the American Hockey League Hall of Fame. Yingst’s career with the Bears began as a sales and promotions director. It ended when he retired last season after 34 years, completing his run as President and General Manager. His four Calder Cup championships as General Manager equals the most in league history.

Liam O’Brien Recalled by Washington

In one of the most well-deserved recalls in the past few years, Liam O’Brien is heading back to the NHL for the first time since 2014.

O’Brien played 13 games for Washington at the beginning of the 2014-15 season before being assigned to Hershey. Since that stint, O’Brien has played 132 games for the Bears, scoring 16 goals and 42 points, 18 of those points coming this season alone.

US Soccer Star and Hershey Native Christian Pulisic Visits the Bears

Christian Pulisic is one of the biggest up-and-coming soccer stars in the entire world, and he’s a Hershey, PA native. At only 18-years-old, Pulisic has accomplished a lot in his short career so far. He is the youngest foreigner player to score a goal in the Bundesliga, the youngest USMNT player to score a goal in World Cup Qualifying history, and joined Borussia Dortmund’s first team over winter break of last year. His father, Mark, was a star for the Harrisburg Heat indoor soccer team from 1991 to 1999.

Tonight, Pulisic came to Giant Center to take in a Bears game. Prior to the game, he played some two-touch with the Bears, a set of skills we put to the test in a soccer challenge a few weeks ago with some of the Bears.

Chris Bourque has now become the seventh player in Hershey Bears history to score 500 points as a Hershey Bear, joining Mike Nykoluk, Tim Tookey, Arnie Kullman, Gil Gilbert, Willie Marshall, and Dunc Fisher as the only players to accomplish the feat.
